An automated tracker following litigation related to generative AI across U.S. federal courts — copyright and training-data disputes, liability and negligence claims involving AI products, privacy and biometric cases, and related matters spanning employment, defamation, antitrust, and consumer protection.
Case data is pulled from CourtListener and the RECAP Archive, run by the nonprofit Free Law Project. Filing documents, where available, come from PACER via RECAP — not every filing has a document publicly available, since that depends on someone having already purchased and donated it.
New filings are found via scheduled keyword searches and reviewed before being added to permanent tracking. Once a case is being tracked, its docket is checked periodically for new activity, which is classified as meaningful (rulings, settlements, class certification, dismissals) or routine (scheduling orders, notices of appearance) using a set of keyword rules.
Each case's stage is a best-effort estimate inferred from filing language, not an official case-status field — federal courts don't expose one. It reflects the most advanced stage keyword found in a case's filing history, and does not yet account for remands after appeal.
